Why we build on Wix Studio — and what Icon-level partnership means for you

Ask ten studios what they build websites with and you'll get ten defensive answers. Here's ours, argued honestly: we build our website and UI work on Wix Studio, and we're an Icon-level Wix Partner — the top tier of the programme. This post explains what that means and why we think it's the right call for the businesses we serve.

What Wix Studio actually is

Wix Studio is Wix's platform for agencies and professional designers — a different beast from the drag-and-drop Wix most people picture. It gives us fine-grained responsive control, reusable design systems, custom code where we need it, and a managed platform underneath: hosting, security, CDN and updates handled without a retainer.

Why we standardised on it

Speed without corner-cutting. A custom design system in Wix Studio lets us design bespoke and build fast. You get a site that looks nothing like a template on a timeline that doesn't drag.

You can actually run it afterwards. The biggest hidden cost of a custom build is the dependency it creates. With Wix Studio, handover is real: you can edit content, add pages and see analytics without calling a developer — and without a monthly maintenance contract you didn't ask for.

The boring things are handled. Hosting, SSL, backups, security patches, performance infrastructure. On a self-hosted stack these are your problem forever. On a managed platform they simply aren't.

What Icon-level partnership means

Wix's partner programme tiers agencies by the volume and quality of what they ship on the platform. Icon is the top of that ladder. Practically, it means we've built enough on Wix Studio — at a high enough standard — to sit in the tier Wix reserves for its most proven partners, with the early platform access and direct support channels that come with it. For you, it's a simple validation: we're not learning the platform on your project.

When we'd tell you Wix is the wrong choice

Straight answers cut both ways. If you need a complex custom back-end, deep third-party integrations the platform can't reach, or you have an in-house engineering team with an established stack, we'll say so on the intro call — it's the same honesty we apply to everything else. Platforms are a means, not the point. What matters is whether your website converts, and whether you can run it without being held hostage.
