Case study — Hospitality
Fully booked, not just found: a restaurant website with online bookings
- Client
- An independent Indian restaurant in Hertfordshire
- Timeline
- Fixed scope, quoted up front
The situation
For an independent restaurant, the website has one job: turn a hungry local search — "Indian restaurant near me" — into a booked table. Our client had a loyal local following built over years, but online they were hard to find, their menu wasn't easily viewable on a phone, and every booking meant a phone call during service hours.
Missed calls meant missed covers. And diners who couldn't see the menu on their phone simply chose somewhere they could.
What we did
We built the site on Wix — the right call for an independent restaurant, because it gives the owners a site they can update themselves (prices, specials, opening hours) without paying an agency every time.
Designed a mobile-first restaurant website. Most restaurant searches happen on a phone, often minutes before deciding where to eat. Every design decision — menu access in one tap, click-to-call, a prominent "Book a table" button — served that moment.
Set up Wix Restaurant Menus. A properly structured digital menu, not a PDF: readable on any device, easy for the owners to update, and indexable by Google, so dishes appear in search results.
Implemented Wix Bookings. Diners can book a table 24/7 without calling. Bookings arrive in an organised system instead of scribbled notes during a dinner rush, with automatic confirmations reducing no-shows.
Optimised for local search. Location-focused page structure and metadata targeting the searches that fill tables — so the restaurant shows up when nearby diners are deciding where to eat tonight.
What changed
- Diners now book tables around the clock — including while the restaurant sleeps.
- The menu is one tap away on any phone, structured so Google can index the dishes themselves.
- The owners run their own prices, specials and hours without waiting on an agency.
The takeaway
A restaurant website doesn't need to be complicated — it needs to be fast, mobile-first, and built around booking a table. The owners now run their own menus and take bookings while they sleep.
